About the festival

5. Festival Edition

During one week in July 2017 the idyllic Old Botanical Garden will be turned into a poetic overall experience.  This unique international literary festival is jointly presented by the two major institutions for literary events in Zurich, the Literaturhaus Zürich and Kaufleuten.

Main Program

The evening program consists of premieres, performances and readings with internationally acclaimed writers and equally exciting newcomers.

Focus Series
Poetry of Pop

At the latest since Bob Dylan was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature for his songs, the art of songwriting has definitely arrived in the fields of literature, too. We acknowledge this development by launching  a new series of events  dedicated to the poetry of pop. On several evenings, outstanding pop poets and singer/ songwriters will be invited to perform their art between music, poetry and performance.

Best of Performance Poetry
Words on Stage

The new format is dedicated to all the forms of literature which combine the art of storytelling with an outstanding stage performance – ranging from Spoken Word until Sound Poetry and Pop Concerts.

The first edition of Words on Stage will take place on the closing night of the festival, on Sunday, July 9 2017.

A highlight of the evening will be the concert by Jochen Distelmeyer (Blumfeld), who is widely regarded as the best "Pop Poet" among Germany's songwriters.
